I decided to check out this anime based solely on Yoko Kanno’s involvement. From the first five minutes, the Matrix vibe was so heavy I thought Trinity was going to show up any minute. After the opening ‘homage’, the Matrixy stuff is toned down and reduced to the landscape. It’s a green-hued city populated by people with powers…

Review: Seirei no Moribito

Seirei no Moribito has a very well written story, great direction and fantastic fight scenes, while bravely eschewing most anime narrative clichés as best as it can for 26 episodes. It does this because its adapted from a fantasy novel, and I hope they adapt the rest of the books in the series.

Live review: God Is An Astronaut (Nov 2010)

God Is An Astronaut soon after appeared in fog and silhouette and remained so for most of their set. Iconic visual presence compliment an increasingly iconic band who are still humble enough to acknowledge to the audience their surprise at having made it this far. Electronic beats flow through their music, not overtaking the proceedings like 65daysofstatic, but always an undercurrent to their trademark sound.
